Internship Update

I took a picture of my desk one day... I tried to be all sneaky and I turned off the sound and the flash. The last thing I want is for my co-workers to think I am weird, taking pictures of my desk...

It's a little blurry, but from left to right you can see: scanner, water bottle, cell phone, computer, keyboard, planner, cup o' pens, calendar, standing file holder, and office phone.

Since the beginning of spring I started watching some bushes along the sidewalk next to the building. I walk by them twice a day - once into the office, and once on the way out. When they started budding I thought they could be hydrangeas, and sure enough they are! I was excited to figure out what color they were. After being gone for a week, I walked into work today to discover that the bushes are covered in HUGE white blooms.

Here are the bushes... the blooms are so heavy they are pulling the bush down.

Here is a close up of a couple of the blooms.

One of my co-workers cut off a bloom after lunch and brought it upstairs. I had an empty glass juice bottle that I filled with water and stuck the flower in. It kept wilting and looking sadder and sadder, so I looked on the internet (the savior for everything) and found a way to bring it back to life. So I brought it home and did the 'trick'. You boil some water, let it sit for a minute to stop bubbling, then stick the end of the stem into the hot water. Let it sit in the hot water for 30 seconds, then place in the room temperature water/vase with water. After about 3 hours the bloom was completely back to normal and looking luscious.

I might have to sneak a few more off the bush one day to make a pretty arrangement. : )
