The Northwoods

I don't have any pictures of the new 'house' yet, but I do have vacation pictures. And those are better anyway, right?

The boyfriend and I drove a total 13-14 hours between 2 days to reach Mercer, Wisconsin. His grandparents live on Big Martha Lake in the Northwoods. We spent 3 1/2 days there enjoying the pleasant weather and the calm water.

I got to spend my 22nd birthday on the lake. It was nice to relax in a calm environment for a change, rather than out somewhere with a bunch of people - no offense.

We spent a lot of time on the paddle boat. That is until the rudder came unhooked and we couldn't steer anymore. : )

The view from the paddle boat.

Our feets hanging off the dock.

Taking the tour of the lake on the pontoon boat.

Mercer is the Loon capital of the world (or something like that). This is what greets you as you enter the town - a town with no stoplights might I add.

Steven tubed, and his sister skied. I enjoyed riding in the boat or floating around on the giant tube. I prefer to stay out of the water... : / I did get to see the loons, otters, lots of deer, lots of humming birds, and lots of giant mosquitos.

The humming bird is right in the middle (click to enlarge).

I had an amazing time, and I can't wait to go back. It was nice to just relax, pig out on the awesome food, and I even got a little tan. : )
