kitchen inspiration

I've always dreamed that one day I will have my perfect kitchen. One with white/off white painted cabinets, light colored counter tops, an island painted in a fun color, wood floors, with splashes of different colors all over.

I have already started my colorful accessory collection. I received this awesome 'lemongrass' green kettle for Christmas:
And then when I was shopping at Marshall's one day - for the first time ever - I found a matching butter dish for a really good price. I tried to find a picture of it, but apparently they don't make it in kiwi green any more.

And this is a close-up of the rug I got from Target the other day. It has the green from my accessories, plus the aqua/turquoise of the antique blue glass Ball jars I love so much.

So when I came across these gorgeous images of this kitchen, it made me wish that it was mine. I would sit in there all day just admiring my kitchen.

I love the little pennant garlands hanging on the windows - such a fun alternative to traditional window treatments. Pillows make the kitchen cozier, it's usually all hard surfaces. The white food floor is beautiful, though I think I would stick with natural wood tones so it didn't get too white.

That kitchen reminded me of Nicole's kitchen...

Love the turquoise island. Love the exposed brick, and the hidden spice shelves. Love the chalkboard on the pantry doors. I could settle right into that kitchen too!

This kitchen just popped up on Design*Sponge... Love it too!

One day...

  1. I saw that first kitchen the other day and bookmarked it. I love tons of color splashed against white and tiled backsplashes. Indeed "one day"...though I'm 28 and still waiting, so who knows...
