Today, Steven and I have been together 4 wonderful years.
We met in fall 2005, freshman year of college, while playing a touch football game. When the team huddled up, Steven would tell me where and how far to run. He even tossed me the ball and I scored a touch down. Steven lived a floor below me, in the room right below me, in Cramer Hall. (Until he moved in with a new roommate on the same floor.) After that game, I didn't see him for a long time. We chatted online over Christmas break, and started hanging out some when we returned to school in January.
Then I was a jerk, playing hard to get or something, and we stopped talking for a while. (I might be skimming over details, but let's not go there...) Right before the end of the semester we started talking a lot, hanging out, eating together... He took me on an official date - off campus - using his roommate's car. He assumed we would just talk over the summer and then maybe hang out again when we returned to school in the fall. Well... I didn't want to give him the option to forget about me, so I asked him to be my boyfriend. Lucky for me, he said yes.
We spent the last 2 weeks of the semester studying for our finals and spending as much time together as possible. The day before our parents were coming to pick us up, we stayed up all night talking and watching movies. I got to visit him for a couple days over the summer, he took me to a concert. We sat in the rain and mud, enjoying our time together. At the end of the summer I traveled to Italy for 2 weeks and was unable to talk to him every day like we used to. I did call him once from Rome and once from Lucca.
We returned to campus... and the rest is history. : )
So a little note to Steven:
I love you tons, and appreciate you every day. You make my life so much better, I don't want to imagine what it would be like with out you. I am proud of you for sticking out your job search, and happy you got to come back to me in Columbia! I can't wait to see where our life takes us. XOXO, me
