summer lovin'

Steven and I had the best summer weekend of the year over the 4th of July holiday.

{huge flag over-head at the 4th of july celebration}

{yes, i used this picture yesterday, I just really like it. okay?}

Friday night I made Italian baked chicken with fresh basil {thanks to an awesome co-worker}, cheesy rice, and broccoli. {And before someone asks, Italian chicken is my own name for it, and all I did was lightly coat the chicken with balsamic vinaigrette, put a basil leaf over the top, pour a 1/4 inch of water into the pan, and baked/steamed it for about an hour/till it was done. Yum!}

On Saturday I went shopping. The Loft was having a huge sale {I scored some cute shorts for $20}, Gap was having a huge sale {I scored some sandals for $10}, and I needed some home items from Target {you can see those when I reveal the fully decorated new 'house' in about 2 weeks. :) Saturday night, after dinner, we headed downtown for dessert and drinks. I got 2 different cocktails, Steven got beer, and we shared a scrumptious pastry with fresh cream and berries.

{even at 20-something fireworks still seem magical to me}

Sunday was the 4th and it looked gloomy most of the day. Luckily the rain held off and we had an awesome afternoon. We went to dinner at Flatbranch. Then parked at the football stadium, walked downtown for frozen yogurt, and walked back to the stadium to watch the show.

{the ones that look like willow trees are my favorite!}
{steven's favorites are the ones that make the most noise. :)}

We pick up our keys today! I am so beyond ready to get this moving show on the road. Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with pictures of the empty space.
