citrus grove

While I was in Florida, I really wanted to visit an orange grove. We went to Countryside Citrus in Wabasso, Florida. I almost went to a citrus museum, too. But no one else seemed that interested. I guess I am attracted to the less attractive attractions. How's that for a sentence?

Anyway, lets move on. As soon as we arrived you could smell the citrus blossoms in the air.

The first thing we saw was someone squeezing dress orange juice. I know it's hard to see, but she just stuck an orange onto the end of a huge metal straw and it went directly into the jug. It was amazing how simple the process was.

This the area where they were sorting and packaging citrus for their store. The fruit that goes to grocers and farmers markets were in way larger bins in a different area.

Here is part of the selection at the store. They had samples of all the fruits so you could try before you bought them.

I purchased some red oranges and flame grapefruits to take home to Steven. I thought they were both sweeter than "traditional" oranges and grapefruits.

Some of the lemon trees. They smelled so good! There was a water reservoir right behind them.

You should visit a citrus grove if given the chance, if only for the samples and fresh juice. :) I really enjoyed it.

I have a beach post and a holiday decoration post both in the works!
