finger kitting

I tried to teach myself to knit once. I also tried to teach myself how to crochet. Neither went very well. I ended up buying one of those plastic knitting looms so I could actually make something of substance. I actually haven't gotten very far in the 5 years I have been working on one throw-blanket... it bothers my carpal tunnel a lot.

So when I saw Gussy's post on finger-knitting, I decided to give it a go. It was really simple and within an hour I had at least 7 feet of yarn-garland. I have it hung in front of our living room window at the moment. I was thinking about making a teal or green version to hang above my kitchen sink. I wonder if I could get two colors to knit together...?

If you are looking for some yarn to finger-knit with, or even to do some real knitting or crocheting with, visit my friend Brianna at her shop, Autumn Fibers. She hand-dyes all her yarn! Maybe she could make me a yarn with both teal and green!

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

  1. That is so neat...I didn't even know there was such a thing as "finger knitting" (sounds like it might be simple enough for me to handle it!). I love that magenta color!

    XOXO, your big sis!

  2. I used to LOVE to finger knit! I learned when I was a little girl from my bff at church and found it was so relaxing! I want to learn to knit or crochet though soon. Last time I tried it didn't go so well. lol Hope you're having a great weekend!

    Love, Mere
