simple wall art

I have been wanted to make this wall art for our bedroom for months! I finally went ahead and got it done over the weekend.

I spotted something like this on etsy originally, and had the the general image in my mind. I searched for about an hour this morning trying to locate the inspiration piece to no avail, sorry! If I remember correctly, the original was actually scanned fabric printed on paper, then framed. I decided to use real fabric and affix it to a stretched canvas. I debated using mod podge, but decided that heat-n-bond would be easiest.

I don't have step-by-step pictures, but what I did was simple. I just printed out the letters that I liked, cut a swatch of fabric to fit the letter, then ironed the fabric onto the heat-n-bond. Then I set the paper over the fabric, and cut with scissors around the letter. I arranged the letters on the canvas, peeled the paper off the back and ironed it down onto the canvas. After it was tacked down, I turned the canvas over and ironed the back even longer. If you'd like more details, or PDFs of the files I used, please email me {cjanecreate @ gmail .com}!

I used the same fabric that our quilt will be made out of. Whenever I get to that... A king sized quilt is really, really big. I was originally planning on doing lots of squares, like this one. But after seeing this idea of a circle quilt, I might have changed my mind. The circles will take longer to cut out, but much less time to sew. At this point I just want to have something done! I was thinking I could make a lap quilt using the square idea, I just love the look of it.

What do you guys think? Is the circle quilt cute? Should I just go for it?

PS: I've been sick with a fever and body aches today. Luckily nothing more than that, but I feel pretty icky and tired. Sorry if I have yet to reply to your email/tweet/comment.

xoxo, christa
