super bowl food

Let's face it... I don't care about the game 99% of the time. I care about the company, the food, and the commercials. Our friend, Amy, had a few of us over to pig out and watch the game. We also complained about the half-time show and read hilarious tweets {making fun of the performers} aloud to each other.

I made meatballs, pigs in a blanket, and my now famous quadruple vanilla cupcakes. Amy supplied Pioneer Woman's mac & cheese and the jalapeno popper dip I made a while back.

After being snowed into the house all week it was great to get out and see our friends!

The cupcake secret: I just added 3/4 of a vanilla bean to a box of french vanilla cake mix, and the last 1/4 into a tub of vanilla frosting. It really added a nice flavor to the cupcakes!

The pigs in a blanket secret: Buy the crescent 'place and bake rounds' in a tube, not the crescent 'rolls'. Like these. Pull a round off at a time, un-roll it and split each strip into thirds. Then roll the lil' smokies up in that. You don't want much more dough than that... it will just be gummy and undercooked in the middle.

PS: Today is Mandy's birthday! Happy Birthday, Mandy! In honor of her big day, she is hosting a whole bunch of giveaways! Including one from me! Go check it out!
