diy: scrappy owl

{ In honor of National Craft Month, I will be posting some inspiring projects from fellow bloggers. }

This one is for you, Gina! I saw this adorable scrappy owl in the Crafts n Things magazine back in October. Seriously. I took pictures of the pages with my phone while standing in the grocery store check-out line. {if you don't believe me I will email you the pictures ;) } I even went online when I got home and downloaded the printable pattern. {to get the pattern, go here and click on "scrappy owl ornaments & pillow under September/October}

While I was searching for pictures of the owl, because I couldn't locate any on the Crafts n Things website, I came across the creator of the scrappy owl! Her name is Kerry and she writes on Kid Giddy. Her step-by-step tutorial can be found on her blog, here! She also made an adorable little hedgehog that was in the January/February issue.

I can see myself replacing the button eyes with felt circles and giving one of these to some of my little friends. :) The large version would be an adorable pillow. I can't wait to make my own!

Today I am working, like on my real day job stuff. I have a project that needs to be done by Monday. I've got the windows open wide and I'm enjoying the sunshine from my couch.

I'm hoping to take a break to make myself a laptop sleeve. My new laptop is just a smidgen larger than my old one, so my neoprene sleeve doesn't fit. I might attempt to make a camera strap cover, too. :)

What are your weekend plans?

xoxo, christa

  2. Hi Christa,

    Thanks for posting about my cute owls! I'm so glad to hear you are planning to fill the world with more scrappy owls! My only request is that you take the one tutorial picture off as eventually they will be taken off my site per copyright agreements with Crafts 'n Things. The others you can keep up.

    I can't wait to see what you make! Felt eyes are great for little kids. I made the pillow size with fabric eyes to show it be fun both ways! Thanks again - and happy crafting month!
