easter weekend

{me, mom & sister}

Over Easter weekend we traveled to Chicago {again} to celebrate my Grandma's life. We had a lovely memorial service followed by a private reception. I'm sure Grandma was jealous she couldn't physically be there. :)

{family photo!}

A bunch of her friends came and had such nice things to say about her - that she was never without her smile and always brought happiness and joy. And a bunch of them knew exactly who all of us grandchildren were, just from her stories.

I made my skirt for the evening. My Grandma always loved checking out my sewing projects, so I knew she would appreciate that I made the skirt just for that occasion. I'll post a tutorial soon. It was so easy - I can't wait to make another one!

That last picture might be my favorite photo from the evening. I love my family. :)

Easter morning we had a bug family brunch and played outside with my cousin's puppy. It was really great. I can't wait to see them all again soon!

  1. Glad the memorial service went well! And I love your skirt :)

  2. That skirt is SO CUTE Christa, I can't believe you made it!

    1. Thanks, Krysten! It was challenging figuring out how to make it, but I figured it out and it ended up being pretty easy. :)

    1. It's actually from Amy Butler's Soul Blossoms line, Disco Flower. :) I love the bright colors in the fabric.

  4. I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother! I knew she had been sick and was doing a bit better. I love how you guys had a time together to celebrate her life. Also, love your skirt! AND, Steven is really tall! I never realized that from your other pictures.

    1. She kept fluctuating between good days and bad. She was really tired and just wanted it to be over one way or another. :) The skirt was SO easy to make - if you can sew straight lines, you can make this skirt. And Steven is really tall! He's a foot taller than I am. That's why we usually take pictures sitting down - so our heads are closer together. :)
