teriyaki chicken pizza

On week two of our new homemade pizza tradition {we can call it a tradition now that we've successfully completed 4 weeks in a row}, Steven wanted to make a buffalo chicken pizza so I decided to make a BBQ chicken pizza since I'd be cooking the chicken anyway.

A couple hours before the dough was to be ready, I boiled two large chicken breasts and threw them into my stand mixer to shred, while hot - worked like a charm! While reaching for the BBQ sauce I spotted our teriyaki marinade. We love teriyaki, it had to be amazing on a pizza. And it was.

I divvied up the warm shredded chicken into some bowls, and mixed one with the marinade. The warm chicken completely soaked up the marinade. I just set it aside until we were ready to build our pizzas.

teriyaki chicken pizza
homemade pizza crust
italian blend shredded cheese
teriyaki marinade {used as the pizza sauce}
marinated chicken
green bell pepper slices
red onion slices

Pre-heat your oven to 425*. Layer the crust, sauce/marinade, cheese, chicken, peppers, onions, cheese. Another drizzle of marinade if you're feeling saucy. Pop it in the oven for ~15 minutes. Easy peasy. Use the same method for BBQ chicken pizza.

If your marinade seems on the thin side, I would put some in a pan over low to medium heat and reduce it to thicken it up before using it as a sauce.

It was amazing. The chicken was nice and moist and the teriyaki flavor was perfect. My sister was over for dinner that night and the pizza received double thumbs up from all three of us. So six thumbs, in case you were counting. :) We will be making this one again!

We want to try to find a way to include avocado on a pizza next. We must use our current food obsession in every way possible. Has to be done.

What are your favorite pizza toppings??

xoxo, christa

  1. Hi Christa,
Your Teriyaki Chicken pizza looks delicious. Did you make the crust too? I will have to try making it once the weather cools down a bit.

  3. Oh wow, this looks delish.
It's inspired me to think about making my own pizza instead of eating store-bought all the time
